Following the introduction of the DREAM Act on the Senate floor, New American Economy issued the following statement:
“New American Economy applauds the introduction of the bipartisan DREAM Act by Senators Graham and Durbin today,” said Jeremy Robbins, Executive Director of New American Economy. “Dreamers are American in every sense of the word, except on paper. They are doctors, teachers, software engineers, and military veterans, and more than half of the 1.2 million eligible for DACA are working in essential roles during the COVID-19 pandemic. The time to provide a path to permanent protection and citizenship for Dreamers is long overdue, and we urge Congress to swiftly pass this bill.”
