The Trump administration’s first six months back in office represent the most extreme and sweeping immigration crackdown in modern U.S. history. The Trump agenda goes far beyond shifts in policy: it is wielding executive authority on immigration to threaten our democracy, weaponize government power, and create a maelstrom of fear and chaos.
The American Immigration Council’s report “Mass Deportation: Analyzing the Trump Administration’s Attacks on Immigrants, Democracy and America” discusses what the immigration system looks like six months into the second Trump administration: who we are letting in (and excluding), how we are treating the immigrants already here, and who we are forcing to leave and how. Report co-authors Nayna Gupta and Dara Lind will address these questions, and Kaelyn, one of the four affected people profiled in the report, will discuss her experience as the partner of a man facing potential removal to El Salvador under the Alien Enemies Act.
